GMSAFOOD invited to present data at GM90+ Kick off
February 28th 2014 at the Grande Arche in Paris
Anne-Marie Bakke from the GMSAFOOD project presented data at GM90+ Kick off on February 28th 2014 at the Grande Arche in Paris

The GMSAFOOD consortium was represented by Anne Marie Bakke (NMBU School of Veterinary Science, Oslo Norway) at the kick-off meeting for the French project GMO90plus, financed by the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy (MEDDE). The project aims to improve the 90 day subchronic toxicology study in rats by taking advantage of the most advance concepts and technologies in order to optimize its predictive character. Researchers from INRA, INSERM, INERIS, CNRS, ANSES, Universities of Toulouse, Rennes, Paris Descartes, Bordeaux and Lyon, as well as various companies (Methodomics, LA-SER Analytica, CITox, Laverca and Agilent) form the GMO90plus consortium. The coordinator is Bernard Salles (DVM, Pharm-D, PhD) of INRA Toulouse.
Also present at the kick-off meeting were representatives from various on-going GMO-related EU projects MARLON (Gijs Kleter), GRACE (Joachim Schiemann) and G-TwYST (Pablo Steinberg), which will collaborate with GMO90plus in sourcing MON810 and NK603 maize, isogenic parent lines and other conventional maize lines for the respective projects, as well as share biological material and data from the animal trials. Plans, results and experience were openly shared among researchers from the different projects during the day-long meeting. This emphasizes the emerging collaborative spirit among independent researchers involved in GMO-research.
We wish GMO90plus and the other EU projects all success!
Anne-Marie Bakke
